Interior Design Styles 101
There are many different styles for interior design and I love the process of meeting a clients and finding their style together. I frequently blend the styles, but it is important to have a clear understanding of each one. Here are some of the design styles that are popular right now.
Modern Farmhouse
Fresh spin on rustic. Think neutral color scheme, shiplap, industrial or modern lighting, barn doors and lots of re-purposing.
Bohemian
This style is adventurous and carefree. Lots of vibrant colors and jeweled tones. It can be tribal inspired with use of moroccan or southwestern fabrics and accents.
Mid-Century Modern
With this look, use minimalist silhouettes, clean lines and iconic furniture. This look is highly versatile. I love the simplicity, functionality and use of natural shapes and objects.
Coastal
This style is very popular with my clients in the palm beaches. Think comfortable! I use light, airy fabrics, and usually a palette of whites, blues and aquas.
Hollywood Regency
This is a look that is definitely trendy right now. Think luxurious! Rich textures, contrasting colors, curved and low lying furniture. Strong patterns and bold colors like black are signatures here.
Transitional
This look blends traditional and modern styles. Some pieces may be classic and rooted in history, with clean and fresh furniture blended in.
