Design Inspiration: I Heart NYC
My hubby and I recently took a quick trip to NYC and there was inspiration everywhere. I adore the energy of the city, there is nothing that compares. Inspiration is everywhere…in the architecture, the street fashion, you name it!
Important to get back there whenever I can. We went to Shakespeare in the Park, which is an annual tradition and also to the fabulous Marea…but the best part was just walking around, taking it all in.
One of the most beautiful features of the older residences in Manhattan are the stamped concrete. The way they utilized a mundane and basic material to create a facade that is magical. It is a wonderfully creative trick. We often stamp design elements into concrete patios and decks in Florida.
When we first arrived we celebrated with this beautiful fruit and cheese platter (and of course champers). It was a perfect way to kick off our weekend away. My husband and I met in NYC and lived there for over ten years. So it’s always a romantic place for us. I love to entertain at home and the simplicity of a bamboo tray with cheeses and dried fruit is always a crowd favorite.
Nothing better than a visit to Lincoln Center! We dined at a restaurant called Lincoln and it was absolutely fabulous. Then we went to see Jazz on Lincoln Center and it was transformative. The Ali Jackson Trio – wow – I was blown away at the immense talent. He plays with Wynton Marsalis around the world. This is what I miss about Manhattan. The modern furnishings from inside are carried outside seamlessly.
The view from our hotel room was beautiful, and the weather couldn’t be better. The glitter and glass of all the tall buildings with the angular architecture is the essence of American modern style. I heart NYC because it’s one of the most amazing cities in the US. It will always be in my heart and I’ll always find inspiration there!
